Cyrtochilum ramiro-medinae

Type: Colombia. Putumayo: San Francisco, Vereda San Pablo Alto, 2500 m. 15 Dec. 2006. R. Medina 456 (holotype: HPUJ).

Cyrtochilum ramiro-medinae was only known from the type specimen collected in Putumayo. It is usually confused with C. divaricatum (Lindl.) Dalström, from which it differs in the petals arcuate, surrounding the column (vs. petals straight), column sigmoidal, the wings broad, rhombic, with filamentous margins and apex acuminate (vs. column erect, rectangular small wings with irregular margins). This record expands the distribution of this poorly known and rarely collected species in the eastern Andes, from Putumayo to Santander.
